Every now and then there’s a luncheon that doesn’t feature a fashion show or a former First Lady. Instead it simply has a speaker with a juicy topic and some remarkable local heroes to honor. Such will be the case on Wednesday, when the Texas Trailblazer Awards luncheon benefits The Family Place at the Frontiers of Flight Museum and presents the following awards:
The speaker for the event will be Candice DeLong (pictured). While that name may not initially hit a familiar brain cell, she has been called the real-life “Clarice Starling” (as in Silence of the Lambs), for her work as the head field profiler in San Francisco for the F.B.I. among other things. Candice’s book Special Agent: My Life on the Front Lines as a Woman in the F.B.I. discusses the steps in the profiling process, her involvement in the Tylenol murder case, and a behind-the-scenes-look at the Unabomber case. Since retiring from the F.B.I., in 2000, Candice has been a busy gal. She’s had a reality series on Lifetime, been the subject of a Lifetime Original Movie starring Jean Smart, and made appearances on everything from Meet the Press to CNN to Good Morning America.
The lunch’s Honorary Chair Ebby Halliday is joined by luncheon co-chairs Molly Cooke Kipp and Lillie Young. Tickets are still available by calling Emily Santillan at 214-443-7717.
You should have a link for “tips.” I love this blog, but there are a lot more stories that could be covered.
LCB, So glad you like SC. Absolutely great idea about tips. Since we’re the new kids on the D blog-sphere (less than two weeks old), we’re just getting our pacing down. In the meantime, please send any tips my way. Have your friends send tips. And for heaven’s sake, feel free to comment.
Jeanne-
Thank you for the plug for Trail Blazers! Just wanted to be sure that MAGGIE Cooke Kipp got proper kudos for chairing this event… don’t know who Molly is!!!
Tinkerbell, Thanks for the input. We love feedback. Always glad to give a pat on the back to good folks.
Our apologies to Maggie. We have put a shout-out to the Trailblazer pr person who provided the name of the mysterious “Molly.” Maybe she knows something we don’t. . . or may be. . . never mind.
