The past few weekends have just been dress rehearsals for the upcoming weekend of activities. Here’s a rundown of some, but if we left something out, go ahead and comment! Dare you!
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13 – “Taste at Lee Park” (5:30-11 p.m. at Arlington Hall)–Lee Park Junior Conservancy will have food tastings, beverages, music, and art from the likes of Social House, Lumi, Grimaldi’s, Rockfish, Javier’s, Artisinal Beverages, Society Bakery, Campisi’s, Woodford Reserve, Asian Mint, Orange Cup, Ray Johnston Band, Counterfeit Radio, Southern Drive and others with proceeds benefiting cystic fibrosis. Sponsors include: Ben E. Keith, Cadillac Regional, CBS Radio, Green Mountain Energy, DME Solutions LP, KRLD News Radio, 103.7 Lite FM, James Edward Photography and others.
“Rock the Dice” (7-11 p.m. at Union Station)–The Junior League of Dallas Auction & Casino Party will have none other than Wolfgang Puck Catering providing the edibles for their annual big card deal. Besides the live and silent auctions and casino tables, mystery bags will be sponsored by Matthew Trent and the T Shop. Out of the expected 900 guests, 100 will have the opportunity to “Rock the Cards’ when they upgrade their tickets to play in a high-speed, no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournament. Event Chair Angela Nash and Honorary Chair Lindalyn Adams are already reporting a sell-out, but begging never hurts!
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14- “Second Annual Highland Park Village Dog Walk” (10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Highland Park Village)–The Village is going to the dogs Saturday and the weather should be purr-fect for the 10 local rescue organizations to make love connections for available dogs and potential human companions. Haynsworth Photography (The Pooch Photographer Extrordinaire) will be present to photograph humans and their pooches. Participating organizations include Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas, Labrador Retriever Rescue Club, Weimaranar Rescue of North Texas, Border Collie Rescue of North Texas, DFW Pug Rescue, Operation Kindness, Dallas Animal Services, Richardson Humane Society, Metroplex Mutts, The Nosey Dog, and Paws Cause.
*Heroes for Children” (3-6 p.m. at Owens Spring Creek Farm)– Celebrating its fifth anniversary, Heroes for Children is holding a party including hayrides, a petting zoo, and miniature ponies. Special guest David Chicken will perform.

“2009 Big Black Tie Ball: An Evening of Masterpieces” (6 p.m. at the Fairmont)–Check for details at our earlier post.
“Dallas Rocks 2009″ ( 6:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. at Union Station)–Check for details at our earlier post.
“Paws in Paradise” (7 p.m. at the Hilton Anatole)–Give the pups the night off and put on your favorite beach attire for the sake of the SPCA. In addition to Dallas DJ Lucy Wrubel in charge of the sounds (no woofing, please!), there will be dinner and an auction. Included in the silent auction will be pet bowls created by Dallas artists. ABC Channel 8 anchor Debbie Denmon will handle the leash, or rather MC duties. Animal Legend Awards will be presented to Mary and Skip Trimble, NorthPark Center, and ABC Channel 8.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15- “Decade of Difference” (12:30 p.m. at a private residence) Youth First Texas is celebrating its first ten years of providing social services, leadership development, educational opportunities, and recreational programs for North Texas’ lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. Special guest will be Stuart Milk, nephew of the late Harvey Milk. It’s an outdoor event with a backup plan just in case the weather gets dicey.
