We regret to report that the lady, who led the Dallas Public Library system for ages including the building of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, died yesterday at the age of 95. Her funeral is 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, at Restland Memorial Chapel.
Days after she was named director of the DPL in 1962, the Dallas City Council tried to censor selection of books purchased by the library. She fought a great fight and won with the backing of the citizens.
She was a lady, a pioneer, and a person to be remembered. The Dewey Decimal System is in better shape in heaven’s library for her presence.

This makes me so sad… Heaven will be a better place and Dallas has lost a true lady that gave and gave of herself… I sat on a panel with her at SMU in the 80′s with Dr. Mary Miller and I soaked up more knowledge that week than I have since… Rest in Peace dear Lillian…
with lots of love
