We regret to report that Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance Director Elliott Dlin died today of a heart attack. “Elly” was internationally renowned as one of the leading experts on the Holocaust.
Just a week ago Tuesday, he was part of a panel discussion at SMU on the newly-established Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission.
May he rest in peace.
This is such devastating news. I worked with Elly from 2002-2006. May his memory be for a blessing!
Elly was a dear friend. I will miss his intellect, his integrity, his sense of humor, his leadership and selfless service to humanity, and our many lunches.
Rev. Dr. Todd Collier
Memnosyne Foundation
Elliot was a trailblazer for the Dallas interfaith community whose education outreach programs influenced generations. We (Memnosyne Foundation) are so grateful for his time and dedication towards making the Memnosyne Interfaith Service Network grow in its efforts to bring people of different economic, racial, religious and cultural backgrounds together in an effort to make a difference. So while the Holocaust Museum has lost one of their founding visionaries, all of Dallas has lost a guiding light. To have known him was to be inspired to move past the dangers of apathy and to become aware of how the decisions made in our daily lives make a difference. He will be deeply missed, but his vision of helping Dallas grow into a city free of antisemitism, homophobia, racism and sexism is a vision still held by many whose lives he inspired. Thank you, Elliott for a Life beautifully lived!
