Former Kimbell Art Museum Art Director Ted Pillsbury has Died

We regret to report the death of well-known former Kimbell Art Museum art director Ted Pillsbury.

Recognized for his building the Kimbell’s reputation within the international art arena, he worked with the Meadows Museum of Art following his departure from the Kimbell.

2003 Linz Award Recipient Paul M. Bass Jr. Died Tuesday

We regret to report that Paul M. Bass Jr. (pictured) died yesterday. He was part of the leadership group of such organizations as Southwestern Medical Foundation, Zale Lipshy University Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Phoenix Houses of Texas, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, and numerous others.

Among his many accolades were his receiving the 2003 Linz Award, and being named the SMU Cox School of Business Distinguished Alumni in 2008 and SMU’s Distinguished Alumnus in 2006.

Aside from these good deeds, he was also known for his great stories and his sense of humor. This past October he moderated a panel made up of Elaine Agather, Linda Custard, and Tincy Miller for the “Expanding Worlds Through Giving” luncheon to the delight of all.

Holocaust Authority Elliott Dlin Died Today

We regret to report that Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance Director Elliott Dlin died today of a heart attack. “Elly” was internationally renowned as one of the leading experts on the Holocaust.

Just a week ago Tuesday, he was part of a panel discussion at SMU on the newly-established Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission.

May he rest in peace.

Dallas Public Library Grand Dame Lillian Bradshaw Has Died

We regret to report that the lady, who led the Dallas Public Library system for ages including the building of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, died yesterday at the age of 95. Her funeral is 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, at Restland Memorial Chapel.

Days after she was named director of the DPL in 1962, the Dallas City Council tried to censor selection of books purchased by the library. She fought a great fight and won with the backing of the citizens.

She was a lady, a pioneer, and a person to be remembered. The Dewey Decimal System is in better shape in heaven’s library for her presence.

The Passing Of Gina Campisi

Gina Campisi‘s death today brings up the subject of depression and its possible consequences. Regardless of your place within the community or your financial situation, there are services. . . excellent services with professional, caring people who are available 24-hours-a-day to help. There is absolutely nothing wrong in reaching out for help.

We have added the Suicide and Crisis Center of North Texas to our web roll and regret that it was not included before. Consider looking at it, just in case you know of someone who might need its services. If you know of any similar organizations of assistance, please place them in the comment section and we’ll add them to the SweetCharity web roll.

Our thoughts are with the Campisi family, Gina’s wide circle of friends, and those who have lost someone due to similar circumstances.

Henry S. Miller Jr., R.I.P.

Henry S. Miller Jr., a true gentle-man, died today at the age of 95. While many in both the residential and commercial real estate profession got their start and inspiration from Mr. Miller, many more have benefited from his and his late-wife Juanita‘s generosity and encouragement of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Dallas Opera to name a few.

Our sincere condolences go to the entire Miller family, especially Patsy Donosky, whose husband, David, just recently passed away.
