Creative types just know how to party. And when the Wyly Theatre is the setting, it’s a dead giveaway that it’s going to be a memorable event. That’s what happened Saturday night for “Center Stage 2010″ celebrating the Dallas Theater Center.

The invitation set up the scene with a killer line — “Anything But Black Tie.” No doubt gentlemen guests breathed a heavy sigh of relief that their tuxedos would have the night off, but then the problem of what to wear to a gala forced men to debate the answer in their closets. Evening honoree Ted Enloe (pictured), Justin Blumoff, Wyly Theatre namesake Charles Wyly, Chad Vose (pictured), Don Carty, Ken Menges, DTC angel Hal Brierley, and others opted for the “if-I-don’t-have-to-wear-a-tie, I’m-not-gonna” look.

The ladies, on the other hand, had no problem in their selection. From tight, short cigarette skirt with killer heels to one-shoulder, to-the-floor gowns, the gals like Allison Laros (pictured) had their way.

For those in lightweight silks, they did have a bit of a challenge upon arrival as Mother Nature and her buddy Mariah literally blew into town. The twosome must have been upset that they hadn’t been invited. As guests arrived, gauzy skirts looked like tethered kites. Even the sturdiest hairsprays were challenged, but after a quick powder room visit, every hair was back in place. Gals like Lisa Runyon (pictured) looked just picture perfect despite the blustery breezes.

Due to the breeze, plans for using the esplanade for the cocktail hour were readjusted for the reception to take place in the lobby. Yes, it was a bit crowded, but, shoot,

this is a crowd of friends and soon-to-be-friends that doesn’t mind getting cozy.

It was at this point where Event Co-chair Pilar Henry‘s Spanish roots became apparent with the “Hot & Spicy Spanish cocktails” and Conte de Loyo Flamenco Theatre dancers (pictured). Like Pilar, the drinks and dancers graciously set the tone for fun, energy, and an air of sophistication.

By the way, typical of the Henry clan, Pilar’s in-laws, Ann and John Henry (pictured right with Pilar on the left) are always on top of things. Instead of waiting til afterwards, they held a thank you party the previous Thursday at their marvelous, one-of-a-kind home to thank the 2010 underwriters of the gala. When it came time for announcements, folks were braced for the usual 15-minute comments. Instead, Pilar summed her thanks up in a two-minute “Thank you, everyone” speech. Smart gal. Smart Dallas Theater Center because it was announced at the Saturday night gala that Pilar had just been named to the DTC board.

Ah, but back to the Wyly. Just as the flamenco dancers exited the lobby via the stairs to the Potter Rose Performance Hall, guests wisely followed only to discover a beautifully decorated ballroom. You just gotta love the flexibility of the Wyly. She can remake herself to fit whatever the occasion requires.

Suspended from the ceiling were mammoth chandeliers of green, ivory, blue, yellow, and white paper lanterns (pictured). On the tables were centerpieces varying from low arrangements of white roses to three-foot high glass vases with white tulips. Hmm, the tulips provided a bit of a challenge during the evening. Not only was it difficult to see the folks on the other side of the table, but when the performance started the tulips blocked that view, too. Ah, but not to worry. The staff quickly saw the problem and seamlessly started removing high-rider centerpieces.

For foodies, a delightful dinner by Wolfgang Puck’s catering group included a chopped farmers market vegetable salad with shaved Parmesan and balsamic vinaigrette followed by slow braised short ribs with sautéed Swiss chard, baby white carrots, sweet potato puree, pan jus and flat breads and crostini. Platters of miniature desserts were then placed on the table. Due to the lack of dessert plates, you had to pop them in your mouth or hold the second bite.

But not to worry. Everyone was having too much fun to quibble about plate ware. For instance, DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty (pictured) is a true master of physical expression. Even if you couldn’t hear one word he said, you got the message just watching him. . . Speaking of being expressive, Bracewell Giuliani attorney Lauren West and Delos Investment head trader Ted Hoffman seemed to be enjoying the magic of the evening just waiting in line for refreshments. . . Yvonne Crum and Jill Rowlett (pictured) were still celebrating their chairing the “Fresh Faces of Fashion 2010″ the night before. . . Katy Menges was oh-so grateful that she brought along her shawl with the room temperature being a tad bit chilly. Ladies, remember this is Texas and a pashmina can be a lifesaver year round. Some gals were actually seen walking around in their gentleman’s jacket. Love chivalrous men in jackets.

Following dinner, former Exxon Mobil VP Frank Risch took up the mike and told the group that at Exxon when they spotted someone within the ranks that had “high potential,” they referred to them as “hy-pos.” And that’s what he called Pilar and event underwriting co-chair Barbara Page (pictured) He then went on to describe the evening’s honorees, Bess and Ted Enloe.

“If Ted ever calls you, don’t answer.”

“Bess (pictured) has been on the board since 1979. She and Deedie (Rose) and others have a big influence on what this group produces.”

Then it was $$ time. DTC Managing Director Mark Hadley got things going to raise funds for the various projects including the program for the Booker T. Washington students to attend performances. In no time at all, the goal was met and the DTC development staff was high-fiving each other.

After all that eating and fund raising, it was time to settle back for some entertainment that suited the occasion. It couldn’t be stuffy. It had to be clever. It had to be unique. It had to be “Whose Live Anyway.”

What? You haven’t heard of “Whose Line Is It Anyway“? Have you been watching QVC 24/7? “Whose Live Anyway” is an improv comedy ensemble like the TV show featuring Chip Esten, Ryan Stiles, Jeff B. Davis, and Greg Proops (pictured from the left) who manage to think on their feet no matter what is thrown at them. Didn’t you see them on “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” The boys actually seemed to love the challenge of being stumped by the audience’s participation. In fact there were times during their program that they seemed to be having as much fun as the audience. Even the bartenders and serving staff took a break just to watch the foursome in action.

Running jokes of the night were about “my little SL500″ and Napoleon. We won’t go into detail here, so you’ll just have to ask one of the 350+ guests to explain. BTW, tell Chip that it sounded as if the crowd didn’t quite get who Billy Mays was.

During these times when fund raising has been challenged, it was a nice break to laugh.

Just as the applause ended the performance, the massive curtains covering the glass walls of the hall rose revealing a beautiful evening and a perfect backdrop for dancing to “MOTION.”

Outside the Wyly, Mariah was still throwing a fit. She really wanted to join the party and she let the guests know it as they headed home.

In recent years, a small, dedicated group of people has committed themselves to building awareness of puppy mills in North Texas. It’s not because puppy mills were the new problem in the animal lovers world. They’ve been around forever largely due to pet stores and uneducated folks who want a nice puppy and didn’t realize the source.

Did you know that there are 10,000 puppy mills in this country selling between two and four million puppies yearly?

To combat the problem, three main programs were initially undertaken by the group. First, protests outside local pet stores selling puppies from such mills. Second, investigating and notifying authorities of such operations and closing them down. Third, educating the public on the right way to get a puppy.

They have since added state legislation to their “must-do” list.

To salute the efforts of the local group, The Humane Society of the U.S. presented Spotlight Humane benefiting the Stop Puppy Mills Campaign at Union Station Friday night. To do the honors of welcoming the 400 guests, Humane Society of the United States President/CEO Wayne Pacelle (pictured with from the left Kristina Bowman, Catharine Flagg and Holly Forsythe)) was on hand, as were guest speakers Puppy Mills Campaign Senior Director Stephanie Shain and Arthur E. Benjamin, founder and president of American Dog Rescue and vice chairman/CEO of ATI Career Training.

The event itself was a bow-wow feat when you realize event chairs Kristina Bowman, Catharine Flagg, and Holly Forsythe had just five months to pull the whole thing off. BTW, at one point it appeared to be a bit of a pep rally for Lady Photographer Bowman. Any time her name was mentioned on the screen or from the podium, a wave of cheering took place in the Grand Hall.

But prior to all the hoopla in the Grand Hall, a VIP reception was held in the Texas & Pacific Room while the silent auction was being held in the Frisco Room. Interesting. This practice has been seen at other events and one can’t help but wonder if the high rollers might have goosed up the silent auction bidding had they had some time to browse around the hundreds of silent auction items.

Instead this group was having just too much fun chatting it up. (Too bad because the silent auction items looked very tempting.) Jocelyn White (pictured) was receiving best wishes about her engagement to Republic Title Vice Chair Kim Seal. Asked when the big date was, she just smiled that Jocey smile and said sometime in the future.

Having just gotten back from Celebrity Fight Night in Phoenix, where she enjoyed the red carpet action with Reba McEntire and Muhammad Ali, Nancy Lieberman (pictured) took a night off from putting the finishing touches on her Playbook for Success, which is due to the publishers on April 1. She told a group including Leslie Ann Crozier and Monica Greene (pictured) that the book deals with how women can use sports metaphors to succeed in business and life.

Both Nancy (lizard broach), Monica (earrings), and Jocey (necklace) were wearing jewelry by that animal-loving jeweler Cheryl Wyly (pictured). You couldn’t have had better billboards.

Honorary Co-chair Peggy Sewell was having to do double duty, since her co-chair/daughter Jacquelin was home sick. But Peggy is a pro and had no problemo in the charm department.

Then it was off to the Grand Hall for dinner presented by Wolfgang Puck catering. The good news was that it met the challenge of providing vittles that were animal-lover friendly with nary a piece of beef, chicken, or fish in the mix.

The bad news was that the chair-ladies remembered the final menu from the tasting a bit differently than what appeared tableside. MIA were vegetables in the pasta, which arrived only coated in Wolfie’s marinara sauce. Dessert was excellent if you were on a diet. Instead of a “full bowl of champagne sorbet with strawberries Romanoff and big wafer with dark chocolate drizzle and a chocolate covered strawberries on the side,” it was a “a tablespoon of some fruit medley and then a marble-sized portion of sorbet!” Luckily, no animals were harmed in the fixings.

The hall’s acoustics also provided a bit of a challenge in the tall hall. Guests at some tables found themselves shouting to be heard by the person right next to them as Hunter Sullivan‘s orchestra played. It was a case of too much of a good thing.

Then the speeches took place and once again the acoustics may have explained why the guests at some tables started talking so much that Wayne had to “shhhhh” the crowd into “healing, sitting,” and silencing a couple of times while he made his presentation. Wayne, it wasn’t that you weren’t interesting. It was just hard to hear you with the sound bouncing off the walls and ceiling.

But not to worry. The speeches and heartbreaking video of puppy mill rescues got their points across as the live auction got going under the direction of Good Morning Texas‘ Rob McCollum. Jack Knox (pictured) was top dog of the night. Seems Jack not only won the bidding war for the “Luxury Lodge in Tanzania, East Africa, for Four,” he donated it back for a second go around. Rawlins “Word Weaver Extraordinaire” Gilliland was so impressed that he wanted “to floorboard it to his (Jack’s) restaurant (Cafe Pacific) and shout ‘the lobsters are on me.’” We suspect that Rawlins might want to rethink his offer and say “the champagne is on me.” No animals are harmed in the making of the bubbly, you know.

The table discussions were evidently influencing those who had plans for additions to their households. For instance, Eric “Up In The Air” Schake was seriously considering adding a Maine Coon to his household as a reward for his hoped-for completion of the New York Marathon.

German Shepherd loving Joe Pacetti (pictured) was moving unusually slowly. Seems that he took quite a tumble on the first day of his jaunt to Argentina. Here poor Joe was hosting a birthday celebration for a dear friend and 70 buddies in Buenos Aires and he ends up in the ER. “I was in and out in 40 minutes. That wouldn’t have happened here in the States,” said Joe. But after being back a couple of weeks, he’s still doing rehab to mend his broken parts.

And speaking of mending, gorgeous equestrian Pam Greenberg (pictured) emphasized the relationship that people have with their animals. And she would know. It seems that her chocolate lab is in remission after a major battle with cancer. Pam admitted that the bonding between them through the ordeal was an incredible experience.

It’s interesting to note that when talking with members of the animal-loving world, they whip out their smart phones to show you photos of their pawed pals. Remember the days when it was glossy pictures being pulled out of wallets? Well, those days are pretty much gone and it appears that puppy mills may be headed in the same direction.

Last week was a busy, busy one for the folks over at the Dallas Opera. Tuesday they announced the opera’s second season at the Winspear, which FrontRow’s Peter Simek covered.

But the night before, the annual dinner was held for the major donors (think annual gifts of $10,000 and up), who have been so instrumental in coordinating and raising the funding for such seasons. The group dined on Ted and Shannon Skokos Stage at the Winspear thanks to the Dallas Opera and Northern Trust. With tables situated on the Monte Carlo set of Cosi fan tutte, even the Garden Gate’s centerpieces alone were good enough to eat.

Guests included Shanee and Steve Birch (pictured), Margaret McDermott, Caroline Rose Hunt, Arlene and John Dayton, Carol and Bruce Calder, Joyce and Harvey Mitchell, Holly and Tom Mayer, Mary Beth and Jay Marshall, and Ellen and Don Winspear (pictured left with Marianne and Steve Lagerstrom).

To top off the evening, Sir Thomas Allen (he is Don Alfonso in Cosi) sang a Cole Porter “ditty.” Needless to say, the crowd was charmed. Nuccia Focile (she plays Despina in Cosi) sang a selection from West Side Story. Other performers who entertained the crowd included Nathan Gunn, Donato DiStefano, Jennifer Holloway, Michael Todd Simpson, Brian Anderson, and Norman Shankle.

It was an opera lover’s night of wonderful.

Friday night we were still living on NyQuil, but have learned the following took place at The Catholic Foundation’s 28th annual award’s dinner at the InterContinental Dallas:

Even before invitations were sent out, the event was not only hitting an all-time record attendance (1,400), but was more or less sold out. Organizers even had to move the location due to the growing number who wanted to attend. The reason for this dramatic growth in attendance was the honoree — Rev. Phil Postell (pictured), head of Jesuit Preparatory School of Dallas. The Jesuits love their Fr. Postell. They should. He has served as president of Jesuit Dallas since 1992.

The day of the event even the weather cleared up, so it looked like any problems were non-existent. Then it happened — an 18-wheeler with hazardous waste toppled over on LBJ closing the highway down for three hours creating a traffic migraine for the entire area. And that was the lead-off topic as guests arrived for the event — “We got stuck in all the traffic in Far North Dallas caused by the chemical spill!” or “It took us two hours to get to the hotel!”

But it only added to the talk at the reception. Then it was on to the dinner. Unlike past dinners with an invocation, Monsignor Henry Petter (pictured) of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton decided to provide a little musical intro first. He picked up his trusty harmonica and performed “When the Saints Come Marching In.” The reason for the musical selection was that Fr. Postell was graduated from and formerly president of New Orleans Jesuit. The table of priests wearing Mardi Gras beads really enjoyed it. Wonder who they were rooting for in the Super Bowl?

While Bishop Kevin Ferrell is always a crowd pleaser with his remarks, he knew that the crowd was there to hear from Fr. Postell, who spoke following a video presentation. One guest reported Fr. Postell:

“told a few stories about his nephew, who was at the dinner last night with his wife. His nephew was named after Postell, so he is another Philip Postell. He joked about his nephew calling the school, asking for Father Postell, and saying it was Philip Postell calling, confusing everyone. He also joked about the reservations made at the hotel that night for Mr. and Mrs. Philip Postell.”

At the conclusion of Fr. Postell’s acceptance speech, it was announced that The Catholic Foundation was making a donation in Fr. Postell’s name to the Jesuit Refugee Service to a standing ovation.

As if that wasn’t enough, the doors at the back of the Crystal Ballroom opened and in marched 15 Jesuit marching band members (pictured) with drums and brass playing the Jesuit fight song!

Chair couple Pat and Neil O’Brien (they received the award back in 1996) put on the festivities with the help of committee members Mr. and Mrs. Thom Schliem, Molly and Jake Schroepfer, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Smerge, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Staubach, Mr. and Mrs. Michael F. Terry, Joy and Tom Wunderlick, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Young.

Underwriting was provided by the following: Mr. Walter E. Adams, Lynn and Win Bell, Mr. Robert Bertino/UBS Financial Services Inc., Karen and Mark Carney, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Codd Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crutcher III, The Duda Family Foundation, Dr. and Mrs. Donald J. Hanratty, Mr. and Mrs. Robin P. Hartmann, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Hughes Jr., Mr. and Mrs. G. Charles Kobdish, Mr. and Mrs. Lee S. Maas, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Moen, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Moore Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Hicks Morgan, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Neuhoff.

Back in October Tre Amici went through some changes, but then change can be good. Evidently it is very good for nonprofits on a quarterly basis. This Thursday Tre Amici Prime Steakhouse and Seafood is launching “Savor the Arts,” which Tre Amici GM Ken Branstetter can best describe:

“Tre Amici began ‘Savor the Arts’ because we wanted to be more involved in the community and this quarterly event allows us to consistently give back to local charities as well as support the local arts.”

This quarter the beneficiary will be St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with specially-commissioned art from such talents as Mike Ledoux, Mikki Mallow, Shane Pennington, Bob Poe, and Rene Vandevere. To help raise funds for St. Jude, the art will be available for purchase.

During the 5 to 7 p.m. reception, guests will be able to visit with the artists, bid on silent auction items, and chat with Tre Amici Chef de Cuisine Chris Hughes. Perhaps Chris will go into detail about the prix fixe dinner that he has prepared including:

Salads: Choice of Steakhouse Chopped Salad or Lobster Bisque

Main Course: Choice of 8 oz USDA Prime Filet, 16oz USDA Prime New York Strip, or Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass

Dessert: Choice of Mixed Berries with Pama Zabaglione or Lemoncello Cheesecake

And if that isn’t to you liking, Chris will no doubt understand and you can order right off the regular menu.

Like we said, “Change can be good.”

SweetCharity is going to cozy up on a foodie opportunity. It seems that Jay Jerrier, who owns the mobile ood-fired pizza catering company Cane Rosso, has just opened a little guerrilla restaurant.

No, it doesn’t serve heavily-haired primates. So, what does guerrilla restaurant mean? In Jay’s case, it means that when Chocolate Angel Too at the northwest corner of Preston and Forest closes at 4 p.m., Jay and his team transform it into an “authentic Neapolitan pizzeria” on Thursdays through Saturday. They open for business at 5 p.m and stay open until they run out of dough.

So, how come SweetCharity is posting this SideDelicious item? We’re getting to it.

It seems in Jay’s other life, he is one of the owners of Campania Pizza in Southlake, where

“one of the things we did out there was a lot of fun. . . was to organize some charity nights. Charities would reserve certain nights and we donate a portion of proceeds from that night to the charity. . . we did it with local schools, Susan G. Komen, American Cancer Society, etc. So, we are going to do the same thing here on Thursday nights in Dallas.”

Hello, Dallas nonprofits, do you hear Jay opening his door to make $$ for you?

Thursday night’s sweeping downpours of rain and just plain cold temperatures were reason enough to stay at home. However, 75 of Dallas’s finest ventured out for the patrons’ dinner honoring “Hearts of Texas” recipient Dr. Bobby Lyle (pictured with Lottye Brodsky) at the Dee and Charles Wyly home. Hosted by Charles, Jack Furst, Lynn McBee, and Gerald Turner, the evening was a warm-up for the fourth annual Hearts of Texas Awards lunch (February 16) benefiting the Volunteer Center of North Texas.

SIDE NOTE: Dee and Charles (pictured) may be the perfect hosts. Their home is a divine party venue blending elegance and comfort while still managing to be a home. (The mini-glass palace atrium just off the entry is the centerpiece of the partying that can handle any type of weather. Dee admits that their original tent years ago caused them to take a long stick to prevent sagging during downpours.) Their menus are masterpieces that have guests lining up for seconds and thirds. The serving staff seamlessly provides for every need. The pianist’s selection is perfectly suited for this occasion and never upstages the conversations taking place during the reception and dinner.

But what truly is the piece de resistance of the Wylys’ entertaining talents is their own graciousness. As you enter the door, there is Charles immediately greeting you with a smile and handshake. He can recall little moments of past meetings that would challenge the greatest memory banks. There is a true sense of fellowship in his eyes.

Then there is Dee to greet you like an old, dear friend. No guest is secondary in her book. With twinkling eyes, an adorable Dutch-boy haircut, and a homecoming queen smile, she has never met a stranger.

But back to the party.

Black-tied guest wrangler Frank Keenan smoothly herded guests from the reception to the buffet stations at just the appropriate time. There was no clanging of bells or whispers in ears. Just Frank calmly suggesting that guests might like to visit one of the buffets set up in the dining and sitting rooms. In the meantime, Wyly chef Darren “The Royal Chef” McGrady (pictured) was in the spotless kitchen smiling and surrounded by staff. He was having so much fun, it was a pity that he couldn’t have joined the guests. When told that there were a couple of guests who wanted to kidnap him, he smiled with a twinkle in his eye. Why does one suspect he’s heard those rumors before?

But what a feast he had prepared. Allan McBee‘s plate looked like it was a geological layering of beef, vegetables, and breads; Bobby Leach (pictured), when asked how he would like his meat by the server, said, “Rare as rare can be” and he got his wish; and, alas, Carol Seay‘s plate was only lightly filled, but she had a very good excuse — “we have another stop.”

While the torrential rain continued, the guests adjourned to tables in the atrium hardly noticing the rumblings of thunder and water cascading down the sides of the building. At one table were Ruth and Ken Altshuler with Lyda Hunt Hill, Mary McDermott Cooke, Cindy and Chuck Gummer, and Linda Gibbons. At the only reserved table were the Wylys with honoree Bobby, Lottye, co-hosts Jack, Lynn (with husband Allan), and Gerald (with wife Gail).

After dinner was finished, the music stopped and Charles was handed a microphone.

Charles officially welcomed the group to the Wyly home and then turned his attention to the honoree. “I’ve known Bobby Lyle for decades, mostly with the Salvation Army. We both come from Louisiana, and we’re both graduates of Louisiana Tech University. He’s an unsung hero, so honoring him is appropriate and wise.”

He then handed the mic to luncheon chair Lynn, who told the group that when first approached about chairing this year’s Hearts of Texas luncheon, she said no way. Then she learned it was honoring Bobby and she was hooked. “Bobby quietly goes about and does the most amazing things.”

It was then time for Jack (pictured) to give Bobby some gentle ribbing: “I’ve known Bobby since the mid-’80s. He’s a man of wisdom and persistence, and does a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Bobby didn’t go the Nancy Reagan School. He does not know how to say ‘no.’ He’s got me involved with Boy Scouts of America.” (Jack is the team leader of Project Arrow and a member of the BSA’s National Executive Board and an officer of the National Council. And you did know that that Boy Scouts of America, based in Irving, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, didn’t you? It was incorporated on February 8, 1910.)

Jack handed the mic to Gerald, who really should have his own late-night show. The man knows how to entertain. “If everybody who came from Louisiana were like Bobby Lyle and the Wylys, we’d take ‘em all!”

Telling the group that Bobby had recently drafted him on to a committee, Gerald (pictured) admitted, “I’ll stay on this committee as long as people vote for me–and as long as Ruth (Altshuler) tells me to!”

He went on to remind the group of Bobby’s involvement with the Bobby Lyle School of Engineering at SMU, the Cary Maguire Center, and numerous other SMU success stories. “The person who goes in and makes your organization better is Bobby. He’ll turn it inside out, look at it strategically … It was a good day for Dallas when Bobby Lyle decided to move to Dallas.”

Finally it was time for the man of the evening to speak. In typical Bobby fashion, he proved once again why so many follow his lead, “I have no illusion about who I am. I appreciate the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to you. I remember when Lyda Hill (pictured) was honored … She said, ‘My goodness, I didn’t know it was the end! I thought I was revisiting my own funeral!’ But, it is a milestone, a crescendo event. But tomorrow we get up and go back to work to make this a better city.”

With that last comment, the table of Volunteer Center staffers all nodded in agreement.

Following Bobby’s words the mic was returned to Charles, who invited all to have coffee and desserts, which filled a large round table. At the top of the tray with petit fours (complete with the Volunteer Centers symbol) was a gold frame with honoree Bobby’s picture (pictured). How touching. How surprising when you discovered the frame was made of chocolate and the picture was a cookie. One guest was heard to say, “I normally don’t do desserts, but I’m definitely not going to miss these.”

As guests departed in their cars from Wyly World to the real world, they took home the memory of a excellent night for Bobby and were looking forward to the luncheon that once again will honor him.

Thought we would get your attention. No, you’re not going to be picked up for loitering and you won’t have to park cars. Instead Kent “Cuddles” Rathbun (pictured) and his Abacus crew are hosting the 6th Annual Seats for Soldiers event honoring military personnel who have either been wounded in combat or have recently returned home from a year of active duty overseas.

What do we mean by honoring? How about a three-course meal?

Not only will the Abacus crew be feeding the soldiers, but they’ll also be closed for usual business until 7:30 p.m. During a holiday period and a rough economic year, that it a major “WOW!”

How do you fit in? Chef Kent is inviting you to join his Abacus staff in “giving the soldiers a standing ovation as they make their way into Abacus and to their seats.” Show up by 4:30, dress warmly, and clap.
