Bella Jury Still Out

It’s not a good sign when the invitation arrives 30 hours before the party. That was the first sign of concern for last night’s Bella re-opening to benefit The Fashionistas. But, what the heck, maybe we’re just not that high up on the invite list.

Next sign was the preview of Bella Boyz including Mordan, which was going to be part of the pawty. BB is an Internet reality show that is supposed to debut this spring.

Am debating whether we should be grateful that the invitation didn’t come in time.

Wristband — Failure To Communicate

Alas, sweeties, we tried, but the mystery of obtaining a wristband for tonight continues. It appears that organizers aren’t on the same information page.

As reported Tuesday by SweetCharity, the Big D NYE website advised folks that the “timeframe” for obtaining bracelets at local Tom Thumb was over, finished, done.

But if you read today’s Dallas Morning News, Big D NYE spokesperson John McGill said that despite reports the infamous bands were still available at Tom Thumb. Now, the ABC-Channel 8 noon news reported the NYE bracelets can be found at the event entrance at Victory Park tonight and the American Airlines Center box office. No mention of TT.

So, we toddled on over to the Tom Thumb in Preston Center and were told by the customer service staff that we could have up to four.

Shoot! Who are you going to believe: the website, the spokesperson, the media outlet? Strother would not be happy.

Good news, though: DART promises that it’s cleaned up its act since Texas-OU and they’re ready for the invasion of 40,000 into downtown Dallas.

Think we’ll just take a pass and watch The Thin Man marathon tonight. No wristband required.

Oh, Dear! Missed Opportunity For Big D NYE At Victory Park?

The big hoopla at Victory Park on New Year’s Eve will probably be a major jam once the Stars game lets out and if the weather holds out. This year a wristband has been added to the mix. You see, just to try to be part of the mega festivities, you have to have a wristband to enter the area.  And even then there’s no absolute guarantee you’ll get in. Those wristbands were available at Tom Thumb and the American Airlines Center Box Office. Remember that we said “were.” We’ll get to that later.

One can’t help but wonder if it would have been possible for organizers to ask for a donation of a can of food to obtain a wristband. This time of year, the food banks could really use some support. It’s hard to imagine in this day and age that organizers couldn’t have come up with some idea on how to have the event benefit a nonprofit. Boo-hoo!

Oh, and by the way, while we’ve got your attention, could someone please tell cutie pie/anchor John McCaa that, according to the ABC-Channel 8′s website, “the pre-release timeframe for wristbands at Tom Thumb locations is now over.” Not to be too tacky, but he advised folks at 5 this afternoon to head on over to TT to get the wristbands. Looks like the only place now with wristbands is the AACBO.
